Why Get a Radon Test?
According to the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Radon is the number one cause of lung cancer among non-smokers while being the second leading cause of lung cancer after smoking. Radon is responsible for about 21,000 lung cancer deaths every year. About 2,900 of these deaths occur among people who have never smoked.
The radioactive gas is emitted from rocks and soils concentrating in enclosed spaces. Because radon measurements can be performed and are essential to assess how concentrated the gas is in homes, our inspections follow standardized protocols to ensure accuracy and consistency.
Our inspectors are trained and must pass the National Radon Proficiency Program's (NRPP) Radon Measurement Professional Certification with Standard Services course which is a 16-hour training and is a two-year certification in which professions must take an additional 16 hours of continuing education biennially. The NRPP is an independent administrative program of the American Association of Radon Scientists and Technologists, Inc. (AARST).
The EPA recommends testing your home for radon at a minimum every two years.
